Celebrating three decades of academic excellence, the International University of Management's (IUM) 30th graduation ceremony was indeed a jubilant display of academic achievement.
Held at the Windhoek Showgrounds, the event was a testament to the university's unwavering commitment to fostering excellence in education. Vice-chancellor Professor Osmund Mwandemele said “IUM is among the top three universities in the country and is still growing in leaps and bounds”.
“I am immensely happy to say that IUM has made a significant contribution towards socioeconomic development in our society and beyond," he added.
Amid a backdrop of joyous cheers and applause, hundreds of graduates draped in ceremonial robes and caps crossed the stage, symbolising the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and perseverance. Families and friends gathered to witness this significant milestone in the lives of their loved ones, reflecting the profound impact of education on individuals and communities alike.
A notable quote from former education minister David Namwandi: “IUM strives to mould and produce all-round graduates able to operate at both national and international arena. We vow to impart sound education in order to impact the lives of our people positively”.
The 2024 graduates were commended for their resilience and tenacity, and urged to become agents of positive change in society.
Mwandemele further expressed pride in the institution's achievements over the past three decades, emphasising its role in shaping future leaders and innovators. He reiterated IUM's commitment to providing quality education and fostering a culture of excellence that transcends borders.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of optimism and anticipation for the bright futures that lie ahead. “I am confident that the period you spent at IUM was extremely rewarding and worthwhile, having been equipped with adequate skills and knowledge that would enable you to successfully navigate in our rapidly changing and complex world.”
