The Khomasdal community hall came alive as the International Youth Fellowship (IYF Namibia) hosted an award ceremony at the conclusion of this year’s IYF Kids Mindset and Character Education programme.Graduates and their proud parents gathered for this special event.
Launched earlier this year, the IYF Kids Mindset and Character Education initiative, a 12-week programme held every Saturday at Limkokwing University, addresses the challenges faced by today's youth in the age of technology. The programme, catering to ages seven to 13, focuses on building strong mindsets, confidence and social skills, combatting issues like gaming and social media addiction.
Building skills
The diverse programme includes mindset education lectures, teambuilding games, etiquette, piano, robotics, chess, music, art, dance, Korean martial arts (Taekwondo) and gospel classes. Nammilk and Sunsation played a vital role as the main sponsors, contributing to the success of this impactful initiative.
The graduates took centre stage, showcasing their talents in songs and dances and overcoming their fear of public speaking. They enthusiastically shared their experiences, encouraging parents to register them for season four next year.
Parents were urged to stay updated by following IYF Namibia on social media (IYF Namibia Official).
The ceremony marked the culmination of IYF Namibia's events for 2023.
Leaving a mark
The organisation says it achieved its goal of empowering youth, personnel from the public and private sectors, educators and the general public to become influential leaders with strong ethics, morality, mindsets and character.
One parent shared a heartfelt testimonial, expressing gratitude for the programme's positive impact on her son, who lives with ADHD. The transformative journey included increased confidence, a shift from excessive screen time and notable academic improvement. The parent commended the IYF teachers for their dedication and the programme's role in her son's remarkable progress.
As IYF Namibia wraps up a successful year of events, the organisation looks forward to continuing its mission of shaping future leaders and making a positive impact on the youth.
