Kanniedood remains on a winning streak

Hein de Villiers
The first week of February is always dedicated to our annual Interhouse athletics. From 5 to 8 February, Windhoek High focused on athletics events, as they are spread out throughout the week.
The athletics teams Wag-'n-Bietjie, Swarthaak and Kanniedood each faced each other in spirit, athletics and artistic design. The stakes were exceptionally high this year and it was challenging to predict any of the results.
There are three trophies up for grabs: For decor, spirit and athletics. This year, Kanniedood won every single trophy and left a large gap in the points compared to the other teams. Notably enough, this is Kanniedood’s second consecutive year of winning each trophy!
Perhaps this could be the start of a new legacy?
At WHS, school spirit isn’t just about cheering on sports teams - it’s about pride and belonging that unites us all. Whether on the field, in the music room, or competing in a club, there’s always a way to get involved and support one another. Sports bring us together, especially during the interhigh against our rival school. The energy is electric as we wear our colours, chant slogans, and push our teams to victory.
Our school is more than a place of learning—it’s a community where every student contributes. Whether debating, swimming, or cheering each other on, we all play a role in creating an atmosphere of encouragement, creativity and joy.
School spirit is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s what makes us proud to be here! Every day, we come together to celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and inspire greatness in WHS!
