My Zone launches 2024 Media Roadshow
Cultivating media skills among the youth
The Media Road Show, spanning multiple regions, is set to impact over 300 learners with invaluable knowledge of journalism.
In a bid to cultivate ethical journalism and enhance media skills among young Namibian talent, Namibia Media Holdings publication My Zone inaugurated its 2024 Media Roadshow at Academia Secondary School on Monday. The initiative, aimed at equipping My Zone's editorial team and school journalists, covers a spectrum of topics, including ethical journalism, social media management, television production, and the utilisation of cutting-edge technologies such as chatbots.The launch event at Academia Secondary School in Windhoek marked the beginning of the roadshow, attracting over 60 learners from various schools in the Khomas Region. The team, fuelled by the support of Pupkewitz Motors, is set to visit schools in the Otjozondjupa, Hardap, //Karas, Omaheke, Oshana, Kavango East and Oshikoto regions.
Speaking at the event, head of My Zone and Youth Development, Enzo Amuele, emphasised the roadshow as a platform for realising the dreams and aspirations of young journalists. "Through the power of media, we aim to amplify our voices, inspire our peers and foster communication where innovation knows no boundaries."
Albe Botha, the chief executive officer of Namibia Media Holdings, touched on the importance of showcasing diverse stories from schools. He urged the My Zone teams at the school level to use the platform effectively to showcase the untold narratives of the youth. "There is a lot more happening at school than just sports. My challenge to you is to use this platform to get your story out there so that we can tell the story of the youth," Botha said.

Briggritte Bezuidenhoudt, a learner from the Khomas Region and a member of the editorial team, shared her experience, emphasising the lessons learned in consistency, time management and the rewards of hard work. "I have captured the beautiful essence behind the camera; it has challenged me a lot and improved my writing skills as a sports journalist," she remarked.
As the My Zone Media Roadshow unfolds, it promises to be a transformative experience for young journalists, empowering them to shape the narrative of their generation through responsible and innovative storytelling.
