Q&A with principal

Q: How did the LRCs’ leadership help you as the principal to lead the school?
A: It is with mixed emotions that I express my heartfelt gratitude to the LRCs for 2024 for the marvellous leadership they have shown during their tenure. Despite the fact that I have not been at school for two months, the LRCs have kept my chair warm when it comes to making sure that the school is running smoothly in terms of discipline and academics.
It’s quite challenging when the school is growing; you will get more teachers and learners. This now leads to many problems. Overall, your support is immense, although some LRCs could not behave as they were expected. I’m glad that you did your best despite the difficulties you have experienced.
Q: What loopholes did you find in the LRCs’ leadership, and what advice could you give to future leaders ?
A: You were not capacitated to take charge; I haven’t seen you guys standing up for your fellow learners, like raising your concerns that a particular teacher did not come to school for two consecutive days, did not attend lessons or left learners unattended, and that should be your area of interest. Continuous mentorship was not provided to you and we will blame ourselves for that.
My advice is: do not take leadership for granted; do not compromise what is right, whether it is your friends; do what is right. In a nutshell, as the LRCs, you should lead by example and make sure that you do well academically.
