Suoma Angala, a client service consultant at the Government Institutions Pensions Fund Outapi office, is working to elevate member engagement and experience.
The Government Institutions Pensions Fund (Gipf) has entrusted Suoma Angala with the role of client service consultant at the fund's operations department in their Outapi regional office.Angala brings a wealth of experience, holding an honours degree in business administration and a certificate in organisational risk management.
“I am currently completing a post-graduate diploma in financial planning. My decision to pursue studies in this field is fuelled by Gipf’s core business of guarding and growing the pension benefits of its members,” Angala said.
Angala’s roles and responsibilities encompass a diverse range of client-centric activities.
Primarily, she meticulously handles client inquiries, which may come in various forms, including walk-ins, written correspondences and telephone calls. Angala also pointed out a crucial facet of the position, which is to offer expert guidance and support to pensioners regarding their benefits. Additionally, she is also required to address client concerns and complaints and actively seek resolutions to ensure overall client satisfaction.
“I love being able to interact with different people from all walks of life daily. I believe I am well placed to touch the hearts of our members in their most difficult times,” she said.
Growth and support
When asked about her experience thus far, she said it has been a rewarding and life-changing journey. Adding to that, the opportunity to engage with a diverse array of cases has served as a catalyst for expanding her skill set, fostering a sense of personal and professional development. “The progress I have achieved in this role has been satisfying, and the prospect of further growth and advancement makes me very happy,” Angala said.
Speaking about her aspirations within the role, Angala said her objective centres around achieving complete proficiency in the utilisation of data management and the client services software integral to her daily responsibilities.
She believes this mastery is a pivotal means to enhance effectiveness and elevate overall productivity. “I find pride in this opportunity and believe it is a great step in my career, as it enables me to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives. Knowing that I can help people plan for a more secure and comfortable future is incredibly motivating.”
Angala advises young professionals to recognise the importance of adaptability, as it is a critical attribute in today’s rapidly evolving work environment.
She added that being willing to adapt to new technologies, roles and challenges is paramount. “Embrace change and continuously seek growth opportunities by acquiring new skills.”
When she is not working, Angala enjoys cooking, travelling and socialising with friends and family.
