At just 26 years old, Sylvia Mutikisha, a determined network engineer from Elisenheim Estate, is carving her own lane in Namibia’s growing tech space.
Working at Green Enterprise Solutions, she’s part of a dynamic team delivering IT services to a diverse client base, something Mutikisha handles with grace, thanks to a solid foundation of planning, resilience and a love for what she does.
Though she once saw herself headed toward a career in finance, fate had other plans.
“When I applied for university, I was undecided. My cousin casually suggested IT, and I went for it,” she recalls. That choice became a defining moment. “Once I got into it, everything just clicked. It became something I truly enjoyed.”
Today, Mutikisha's passionate about how networks connect people and systems, and she’s set on becoming a seasoned expert in the field.
But her path hasn’t been without challenges. Navigating a male-dominated industry required finding her confidence and identifying where exactly she fit within the vast world of IT.
“There were moments of doubt,” she admits. “But over time, I discovered that networking is my niche, and everything started aligning perfectly from there.”

Maintaining a balance
Despite the high demands of her field, Mutikisha manages to maintain a healthy work-life balance, attributing much of it to her supportive work environment.
“I’m grateful to be led by strong mentors. Their guidance allows me to stay productive without feeling overwhelmed.”
When asked about her inspiration, she doesn’t hesitate. “My mother, without a doubt. Her strength and resilience taught me that nothing is impossible.”
Professionally, Mutikisha looks up to those who push past limits and relentlessly pursue their dreams.
One of her proudest moments was earning her bachelor’s degree in communications networks. “It was more than a certificate; it was proof of my hard work and a launchpad into the industry.”

‘You belong here’
For aspiring IT professionals, especially women, Mutikisha offers heartfelt advice.
“Stay curious, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and believe in yourself. You belong here just as much as anyone else.”
Motivated by the desire to make both herself and her family proud, she keeps focused by surrounding herself with ambitious, like-minded people. “Their energy inspires me to reach even greater heights.”
Though Mutikisha hasn’t stepped into charitable initiatives just yet, she’s eager to give back in the future, whether through mentorship, sharing knowledge, or guiding newcomers into the tech world.
Balancing her online presence between Instagram for personal expression and LinkedIn for professional growth, she uses social media to draw inspiration from others’ successes. “It’s a reminder that with hard work, anything is possible.”
With her story still unfolding, one thing’s clear: this Elisenheim-based network engineer is just getting started, and the future of tech in Namibia is better for it.
