One o’clock, two o’clock, three o’clock, (rock and) Run!
Saturday 25 February 2017 will see the Trustco United Sports Grounds in the city come alive with the third annual Pick n Pay Rock n Run and measuring by the success of the previous event, this one may rock your socks off.This year’s event promises to be bigger and better with many more sponsors and entertainment while participants can look forward to exciting prizes. The organisers are excited by the enthusiasm of all stakeholders and look forward to host another entertaining Pick n Pay Rock n Run.
Local talent, which include Brother’s Remedy and Lize Ehlers, will entertain participants along the 5 km and 10 km fun route as participants make their way to the main stage for the entertainment by international artists.
The younger participants and guests can look forward to meet Lollos and the rest of the guests can dance to the beat of music from Mango Groove, Heuwels Fantasties and new music sensation Refentse.
The focus of the event is on mass participation and Namibians are invited to join in droves by bringing families, friends, colleagues and clubs to this entertaining and healthy event. Along the route they can expect Aqua Splash and Vigo water points, foam spray, colour powder and giant inflatables to make the event more than just a fun run.
Radiowave will man a watering hole and Monster will ensure that their energy drink awakens the “monster’’ in everybody to provide tons of energy necessary for an enjoyable day out and about.
At the venue and sports grounds, visitors and participants can enjoy a variety of food items from the Pick n Pay Food Village, or visit the Windhoek Draught beer garden or the Brampton Wines ladies’ wine bar and cocktail area.
DJ Rudi will provide sokkie music in the dance arena.
Young visitors are also catered for and their safety is a priority. They can get rid of excess energy in the Bakers Kids area at the main stage.
Participants can dress up for the best-dressed competition where loads of prizes sponsored by FNB are up for grabs.
Pick n Pay Rock n Run would like to make a generous donation of N$10 per ticket sold to the Cancer Association of Namibia to assist with their awareness campaign and community service.
The programme for the day will kick off at 13:00 when the gates open. Lollos will be at the main arena at 15:00 and at 16:30 the fun run will start. Entertainment on stage will commence at 17:30, with the main international artists performing from 19:00. Gates will close at 24:00.
Tickets are available from Webtickets and Pick n Pay stores at Auas Valley, Wernhil Park, B1 City, Mega Centre and Swakopmund) and cost N$175 for adults, N$100 for children aged from 6 to 18. Children younger than five can enter at no cost.
