The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Onno Amutenya as the Acting Chief Executive and Principal Officer of the fund. This appointment will be effective from 5 August 2023 and will last for a period of six months or until a permanent CEO/PO is appointed.
The decision to appoint Amutenya was made due to the conclusion of the contract of the interim chief executive, David Nuyoma, whose short-term contract ends on 4 August 2023. This appointment allows for a smooth handover and aligns with the ongoing process of selecting a permanent CEO/PO.
Amutenya currently serves as the General Manager of Information Systems at GIPF and brings a wealth of experience to the role. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Financial Economics, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Development. With more than 27 years of work experience, he possesses a deep understanding of the fund's objectives, operations, and current strategic direction.
Having showcased strong leadership skills and promoting team cohesion as a member of the Executive Team, Amutenya has played a crucial role in shaping the fund's Information Systems strategies. These strategies have greatly contributed to the fund's success in delivering efficient and accessible services to its members.
