Help sought for Titus

He is a gentle soul who loves to draw, but a mysterious and painful condition casts a painful shadow over the life of seven-year-old Titus Johannes, a grade 0 pupil of the Lifeline Clinic school.
The unknown condition causes Titus' arm to be enormously swollen. His mother, who supports the family by selling bread at a local market, brought him to the clinic to find out what was causing the immense swelling. Titus' father and two siblings are deaf and mute, making his mother their sole breadwinner.
The Naankuse Lifeline Clinic, which was established in 2003 to provide free medical care to the San communities in Omaheke, stepped in to help Titus.
"We are not exactly sure what his condition is," says Dr Rudi van Vuuren who is at the helm of his treatment.
"It's either lymphedema or something like tuberous sclerosis, but we're taking him to specialists in Windhoek, hopefully as soon as possible, to help us make a diagnosis," Van Vuuren said.
The Naankuse Foundation has now started a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of bringing Titus to Windhoek for urgent tests and treatment.
"The moment enough money has been collected, Titus will be brought to Windhoek for tests and related treatment. Should readers be interested in making a contribution, they are welcome to contact me," says Colette Massier.
