Ipangelwa one of energy’s rising stars
The Africa Energy Chamber recently named Munolwisho Elizabeth Ipangelwa, a Green Hydrogen Advisor at GIZ, as one of its 25 Under 40 Energy Women Rising Stars, recognising her efforts in promoting gender inclusivity within Namibia’s energy sectors. This honour reflects her influence as a role model for women and young professionals in the oil, gas, and green hydrogen industries.Ipangelwa joins an esteemed group of women leaders in energy, including Amena Bakr from Energy Intelligence in the UAE; Janice Faria, CEO of Enagol in Angola; and Jocelyne Machevo of Vivo Energy Mozambique.
Sharing her gratitude, Ipangelwa said, “This recognition is a testament to young women’s impact in the energy sector. I am deeply thankful to GIZ and the Green Hydrogen Business Alliance for their support.”
Reflecting on her journey, Ipangelwa stated, “This award has intensified my resolve to advance Namibia’s Energy Agenda. I’m committed to advocating for women’s and youth’s inclusion in the sector. There is significant potential for MSMEs, especially youth-led, to succeed in emerging industries, and I’m passionate about championing this cause.”
‘Ready’
Her acknowledgement is timely as Namibia positions itself as a leader in green hydrogen. She affirmed, “Namibia is ready for the Green Hydrogen industry, with the government launching a Green Hydrogen Strategy and supporting developers already active in the country. Policies and the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme are being established to provide further support. The government’s dedication is evident, and I am confident that Namibia is well-prepared to capitalize on this transformative industry.”
James Mnyupe, Namibia’s Green Hydrogen Commissioner, praised Ipangelwa’s contributions and the significance of supporting skilled young women in energy. “Recognising and empowering young female professionals is essential for Namibia’s growth and energy aspirations. By uplifting these rising stars, we are building a workforce ready to lead transformative projects,” he said.
