The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) announced the appointment of Lydia Jacobs to its advisory board.
With over 12 years of experience in law reform and policy development, with a strong focus on the energy sector, Jacobs brings a wealth of expertise that will enhance the forum’s mission to empower young Namibians in the evolving energy landscape.
The NYEF serves as the platform for youth engagement in Namibia’s energy sector, encompassing oil & gas, hydrogen, and renewable energy.
Jacobs’ extensive background in legal research, along with her commitment to socio-economic reform, positions her perfectly to guide NYEF’s initiatives and programmes.
Jacobs currently works with the Directorate of Law Reform at the Ministry of Justice, where she excels in providing thorough analyses on various legal topics, including energy policies. Her academic credentials include a B-Juris and LLB from the University of Namibia, a Master’s level certificate in Ocean Governance from the National University of Galway and she is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) in Oil and Gas Law at the University of Aberdeen.
Her diverse qualifications and skills in project management, legislative drafting, and investment treaties make her an invaluable addition to the NYEF team.
In her new role at the NYEF, Jacobs aims to provide guidance and actionable recommendations that will empower young Namibians in the rapidly developing energy sector. She emphasises the importance of collaborative efforts to propose initiatives that can be implemented at local, regional, or national levels, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard in the formulation of energy policies.
