Kyra dreams big

Her first big concert was in 2004 at the German Kindergarten in Swakopmund and from there everything - from school and learning work to feeding the cat - turned into a concert.
Today, Kyra Janse van Rensburg, who was born in Swakopmund 21 years ago, has made Abu Dhabi her home for the time being.
Since her first shaky concert debut, Kyra has appeared in several Hollywood films with big names in the industry. The latest is My Spy: Eternal City with Dave Batista which is released today. The film follows the dynamic duo JJ (Dave Batista), a veteran CIA agent and his 14-year-old stepdaughter and protégé Sophie (Chloe Coleman) who must intervene during a school choir tour to Italy when the Vatican becomes a target of a nuclear plot.
Kyra's passion to "perform" runs like a thread through her school career when she sang songs when she had to answer a long question to remember the answer; she just started humming the tune and lo and behold, she had an answer!
In 2010, after moving to Stellenbosch in South Africa, she decided to become an actress and from there Kyra took every opportunity she could to get on stage. From plays, to prose and poetry and the golden diplomas and comments from judges, there was one thing: Kyra has a natural talent.
She went to other actors at training schools for professional stage training and auditioned as a background actor for films and commercials. It schooled her well in how things works on the set of a film. Her dream from the beginning was to go "international and big", with her natural talent praised by international directors and who encouraged her to never leave the film industry, because her talent and facial structure would open many doors for her.
To date, her experience as a background actor includes Revelation Road (four series) with David White, The Widow with Kate Beckinsale, the Black Mirror series with Miley Cyrus and One Piece Panda Productions, which had the largest cast ever in South Africa .
She also appeared as a background actor in several commercials for, among others, Ax and Bouwer Bosch barbecue day.
Kyra's motto is to work hard to earn enough money to follow her passion. This meant that after school she could travel from India to Thailand and Italy with the money she earned and saved.
As a devout Christian, Kyra also does a lot of missionary work.
