Ileka heads up City Police

Deputy Chief Leevi Shivolo Ileka has been promoted to the rank of Chief to become head of the Windhoek City Police, effective from 11 September 2023.
According to a media release by the City of Windhoek (CoW), Ileka brings a wealth of experience in management and leadership within the public service and security sectors. He holds a Master of Science in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras, India, and a Post Graduate Certificate (Senior Staff and Command Course) from the Defence Services Staff College, India.
Furthermore, he has a Master's degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) in collaboration with the Open University of Catalonia, Spain. He also possesses a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and a National Diploma in Human Resources Management from the University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Alongside these qualifications, Ileka has completed numerous trainings and courses.
With 27 years of work experience spanning both public and private sectors, many of these roles have been within the security fraternity. Before this appointment, he served as the Deputy Head of the Windhoek Municipal Police Service, holding the position of Deputy Chief from 2020.
Ileka's expertise in the security sector, augmented by his academic achievements and leadership qualities has been honed across various industries including the local authority (CoW), military (Namibia Defence Force – Namibian Navy), and City Police, amongst others.
