Baines Vetcare's mobile veterinary clinic has spayed and vaccinated more than 13 000 pets across the country in the last five and a half years, covering 100 000 km in the period and reaching over 40 destinations in all parts of Namibia.
Earlier this year, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Namibia (UNAM) presented Dr Ian Baines (founder of the mobile clinic) with an Academic Meritorious Award for outstanding community service.
“This has been a remarkable team effort and as long as everyone involved, including funders, hosts and all supporters, stay on board and we are willing and able to move forward with the project, hopefully it will continue to improve the lives of our four-legged companions and their owners,” so the mobile veterinary clinic posted on their social media page.
Funded by donations, the mobile clinic offers free services to pet owners during their visits to different regions of the country in the hope of improving animal health. This works in conjunction with UNAM's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where senior students work as volunteers.
