Four projects benefit from ‘Chains of Kindness’
Through August 26 Logistics’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme, Chains of Kindness, several communities and hundreds of children from four projects have already been assisted.Chains of Kindness builds positive social impact by partnering with stakeholders and suppliers to provide welfare services and goods to vulnerable communities across the country.
“We are immensely proud of our Chains of Kindness initiative,” acting managing director of August 26 Logistics Alpha Nekomba, said. “We believe that through our collective efforts, we have fostered meaningful positive change in these regions, alongside our valued suppliers.”
As part of the Chains of Kindness program, August 26 Logistics together with 18 of its suppliers, contributed towards a series of donations that helped communities. These gifts included food, toiletries, cleaning products and 600 blankets.
Beneficiaries
Havanna Charity Work Foundation under the care of Natasha Nekweya feeds 400 children every week. Chains of Kindness provided food, toiletries, cleaning products and blankets, bringing much-needed relief and smiles to the beautiful faces of children.
The Ovinjange Community Project through the non-profit Omiti Planting CC, is one of the projects that was established to tackle water scarcity and food insecurity, which have been long-standing challenges in the Ovinjange village, approximately 11 km from Opuwo. August 26 Logistics contributed N$88 713 to the drilling of a borehole and between 700 to 800 people will benefit from this project.
Rise and Shine Soup Kitchen in Epako (Gobabis) is managed by Johanna Tjirongo-Nakale. This soup kitchen provides daily meals to 121 children from the San community and provides permanent accommodation for 23 children. Food, toiletries, cleaning materials and blankets were donated.
Finally, the Otjikoyo (Ovatue, Ovatjimba) community is located about 60 km northwest of Okanguati in the Kunene region. This community of 150 households were gifted food and supplies. The donation from Chains of Kindness included food, toiletries, cleaning materials and blankets.
“Chains of Kindness would like to thank all the stakeholders for making this project a success. Your support allowed us to extend our reach and provide even more to those in need,” Nekomba said.
