Jadyn’s Christmas wish list granted
As the festive season approaches and the magic of Christmas fills the air, Wernhil (managed by Broll Namibia - a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group) announced the continuation of its cherished annual tradition: the Wernhil Christmas Wish List Campaign.“It is a tradition that is deeply grounded in the O&L persona of being authentic, passionate and caring,” O&L Group Corporate Relations Manager and Spokesperson, Roux-ché Locke said. “This heart-warming initiative has been a beacon of hope and generosity for the past eight years, and this year, we are excited to have received a staggering 501 entries from the community.
“Among the multitude of heartfelt wishes, we are delighted to introduce you to our chosen recipient, little Jadyn Beukes, a remarkable young girl who embodies the spirit of resilience and triumph,” Locke said.
Jadyn has faced extraordinary challenges since birth, battling Down Syndrome and a complex heart defect. With only three heart chambers instead of four, her medical journey has been filled with uncertainty. However, following a life-changing operation in 2022, Jadyn's health has seen remarkable improvements, allowing her to pursue her dreams. Despite this, her family continues to grapple with substantial medical debts.
“In the true spirit of the season, Wernhil is committed to fulfilling Jadyn’s Wish List, which includes special noise-cancelling earphones for her sensitive hearing, a piano and karaoke machine to nurture her love for music, and a play medical kit for her cherished Teddy, her loyal companion during hospital visits. Furthermore, we are dedicated to supporting Jadyn’s educational journey by providing school uniforms, special soft school shoes, a complete range of required stationery, and essential school supplies such as cleaning materials, toilet paper, and copy paper. This support aims to alleviate the family’s financial burden and ensure a smooth transition for Jadyn’s return to school in 2024.”
Sparking conversations
Jadyn's mother expressed her hope that this initiative will spark conversations within the community, enhancing support systems for children with special needs.
As part of Wernhil’s annual signature event, the final selected child has the opportunity to choose one of two deserving schools to also receive a Christmas gift according to their needs. This year, the chosen schools are Inges Kindergarten and Môreson Special School for the Cognitively Impaired.
In an act of generosity, Jadyn selected Môreson Special School to receive a charitable donation valued at N$6 000. In the same generous spirit, Wernhil will fulfil the wishes of Inges Kindergarten with a donation of up to N$6 000. Both schools will receive their desired goods in the new year to support their educational and developmental endeavours.
