Windhoek

She emphasized that the obligation of housing provision to the people is still far from over because the Shaningi family is but one among hundreds of misplaced and homeless citizens in the region.
She said that her office managed to secure plot 331 in Onyati Street in the Tobias Hainyeko Constituency to contribute to Timoteus Shaningi and his family, as well as to secure the amount the money for the construction of the house.
She said that Ashlee Groenewald Four Walls Property Developers offered their construction services, completed the levelling and compacted the plot with their own manpower and equipment to the tune of N$100 000 free of charge as their contribution and pledged to construct the new house. “The company also offered to do the drawings, develop the building plan and construct the house for N$280 000 without any extra cost of labour and equipment.”
Shaningi, an elderly resident in of the capital, thanked the governor and her office, as well as the Windhoek municipality for their support in constructing the new home with decent sanitation for him and his family.
Speaking at the same event, deputy mayor Joseph Uapingene, said that resources are scarce and that challenges remain in terms of delivering serviced land to cater for everyone. “The Khomas Regional Council and the City of Windhoek remain committed to seeking opportunities and funding to assist vulnerable residents.
“The number of vulnerable people and social welfare cases grows daily. Therefore, it is imperative that significant strides are made in the speedy delivery of land through joint efforts with our development partners.”
