Communities continue to go green
As part of its commitment to enable communities to have a collection point for their recyclables, the Recycle Namibia Forum (RNF) and NamiGreen handed over two recycling bins to the City of Windhoek’s Solid Waste Division recently. The igloo is part of a collection hub set up at the Solid Waste Management office in the Northern Industrial Area, making it possible for residents in the area to correctly dispose of a variety of items, including recyclables, household batteries, and electronic waste.
The Recycle Namibia Forum donated the first igloo in March 2021 to the Development Workshop Namibia sanitation point in Samora Machel constituency, a community project supported by the City of Windhoek, which has since grown tremendously.
The donation of the recycling bins comes at the right time when the City of Windhoek joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Environment Day, under the theme “Only One Earth”.
World Environment Day is celebrated to encourage people to take action and protect the environment.
