Going gold (and yellow) for childhood cancer

“In September we paint the world yellow and gold to show our support of childhood cancer awareness because children get cancer too,” said Rolf Hansen, chief executive of the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN).
Childhood cancer cases are increasing globally and in Namibia no less than four families hear that their child has cancer every week. To address the urgency of childhood cancer awareness, the “Yellow and Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness” initiative was adopted and introduced in Namibia in 2015.
This year CAN will hosts CANCafe sales of pancakes and cupcakes to raise funds, while the “Yellow Ribbon Festival” supported by AlexForbes at the end of September, will conclude the month’s awareness activations.
To raise funds for the CHICA Namibia Fund (Children Fighting Cancer in Namibia), CAN kicks off the “month of golden hope” on Thursday, 25 August 2022, with a massive pancake sale fundraising drive.
Yellow cupcakes are available on order as from 25 August to Friday, 30 September 2022. Corporates, schools, the public at large are kindly requested to support this initiative to help sustain the CHICA Fund.
