Keeping kids in schools
The German Ambassador to Namibia, Dr Thorsten Hutter, signed an agreement with the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO), represented by its founder and director, Dr Philippe Talavera for the Stay in School Project aimed at preventing children from dropping out of school. The project is funded by €77 000.
Besides keeping children in school, the project also supports communities, especially mothers, and advocates for better systems to be put in place for those who live on the streets.
Ambassador Hutter said at the signing that supporting these projects is always a highlight for any ambassador and that his embassy would be following the project closely.
The German government continues to campaign for human rights around the world. The Federal Foreign Office supports between 120 and 140 projects of varying sizes each year around the globe in emerging and developing countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and Eastern Europe.
