New nursing station in the Susanne Grau Home

The Susanne Grau-Heim (SGH) old age home in Windhoek boasts a new nursing station since the beginning of August.
This ground-floor ward has nine bright and friendly rooms, all of which are equipped with a modern bathroom. One of the rooms is a double room, the other eight are available for singletons. "Our new nursing station is not intended for bedridden people, but for older people who need help with their daily tasks," says Jenny Rasch, managing director of the SGH.
Almost every day, all SGH residents can take part in the activities on offer. These include yoga, singing, crafts, playing bingo and much more. Occupational therapy challenges the residents mentally and physically. Various organisations, such as the Old Wheelers Club, regularly provide afternoon coffee, for which the senior citizens are picked up. Once a week, residents have the opportunity to take a shuttle service to go shopping.
SGH regularly hosts parties to which both residents and members of the Windhoek Women's Association are invited. The next festival is the Spring Festival and takes place on 7 September.
The Windhoek Women's Association was founded in 1921 with the aim of providing accommodation for unemployed people and poor families. Over the course of more than 100 years, this became a home for senior citizens.
