Red hot fun for a good cause

It is International Fire Safety Week and the Windhoek fire brigade has an action-packed programme for young and old. Since Monday, demonstrations, information sessions and tours have been offered by the fire brigade and take place daily between 11:30 and 15:30.
According to Estelle Hein, the station officer of the Windhoek fire brigade, children can also attend the sessions.
"We try to make it fun for the children and also play a little in between," Estelle says.
Great fun is planned for tomorrow night, all for a good cause. Firemen and women will take to the fashion show at 18:00 as part of a fashion parade and then dates with firemen will be auctioned off.
It all happens at their headquarters in the capital and is to raise money for the purchase of smoke alarms that are installed in informal settlements. It also resonates with this year's theme – Smoke alarms: Make it work for you.
The winners of the fire brigade's writing and art competition, in which many school pupils participated, will also be announced tomorrow evening.
To conclude the week's proceedings, the fire brigade will hold a foam party on Friday evening and tickets are available from Pick 'n Pay and webtickets.com.na. – [email protected]
