Winter warmth for vulnerable children
As winter's grip continues, many communities still find themselves facing various challenges, lacking the necessities to shield against icy temperatures. However, in a display of compassion, Capricorn Group employees, acting as Changemakers, came forward to support fundraising efforts of the Step out of Poverty through Education, Encouragement and Support (S.P.E.S.) charity.
Their contributions included blankets and children's clothes (0 to 6 years), part of a winter drive aimed at assisting kindergartens supported by S.P.E.S.
The handover took place at two kindergartens nestled in Havana and Hakahana on Wednesday. Employees from Capricorn Group and its subsidiaries, Bank Windhoek and Capricorn Asset Management, collaborated to transport boxes of blankets and clothing to these locations, ensuring the support reaches those in need.
The Changemakers, known for their dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities, once again demonstrated their commitment to making a difference. Through their donations of blankets and clothing, they are providing vital warmth and comfort to over 120 vulnerable children and their families throughout the winter season.
For over 14 years, S.P.E.S. has been tirelessly serving less fortunate children in Windhoek's most vulnerable communities. Their support extends to 25 informal preschools, benefiting nearly 1 700 children and 80 teachers. These children grow up amidst the shadows of multidimensional poverty, hopelessness, abuse, and neglect. The harsh winter places even greater strain on their already limited resources and support systems.
Despite these challenges, the charity remains steadfast in its mission to bring hope and create a brighter future for the children and youth they serve, employing a holistic approach. By providing essential warmth and support during this winter, the collective efforts of Capricorn Group's employees and S.P.E.S. exemplify the spirit of compassion and unity, offering hope and comfort to those in dire circumstances.
