“This year’s edition we started with 16 male and 12 female teams who competed in Rundu in October, before making it to the semi-finals and finals where we focus on the top-four teams in each category competing for gold medals and the coveted trophy,” he said.
The event kicked off with exciting semi-final matches on the men’s side, where Afrocats took on Nampower for a spot in the finals and claimed a 3-0 victory.
In the second semi-final, Mighty Gunners took on Brutal Pact and claimed a nail-biting 3-2 victory, before Nampower and Brutal Pact battled it out for a spot in the third place.
The women’s semi-finals kicked off with the clash between Unam Queens and Vixens, with Unam Queens securing a 3-0 win and their place in the finals against NDF Phoenix who defeated !Nakapele 3-0.
In an exciting result, Afrocat secured the men’s championship by defeating the Mighty Gunners, while NDF Phoenix triumphed over Unam Queens, sealing their victory in the women’s category.
This year's tournament held added significance, as the top two teams in both the men's and women's finals earned automatic spots in the National League for the 2025 season. “This unique aspect makes this edition particularly extraordinary. Players are motivated to compete at their highest level, with youngsters eager to prove themselves against the seasoned competitors,” Hamukwaya explained.
With eight regional associations participating, the NVF continues to nurture the growth of volleyball across Namibia, focusing on the future of the sport.
