Athletes World

Johanna Benson
On this week’s Athletes World episode we are joined by Namibia’s first Paralympic gold medallist Johanna Benson, who is from Walvis Bay.
Classified as a T37 competitor, for athletes with cerebral palsy, she competes in long jump and sprint events.
At the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London she won the women’s 200 metres race in her classification – as well as the silver in the 100.
Her 200 metres success in London made her the first Paralympic gold medallist in Namibia’s history. Her tally also includes three bronze medals from IPC world championships, two bronze medals from Commonwealth Games and 100 m gold from the 2015 African Games.
This week she talks about how she trains, what she does in her free time and what her plans are for the future.
