De Wet wins Seniors Open

The Walvis Bay Golf Club’s senior branch hosted its first-ever Inter-branch Seniors Open last week.The two-day event had a sizeable field of 31 players entered, with visitors from Swakopmund, Henties Bay and Windhoek.
The medal format did not deter the players from good scoring and eventually, local seniors captain Tienie de Wet easily won the overall nett prize on a very good score of 138 points. He was also crowned overall gross winner with 154 (two rounds of 77) and a new handicap.
In second position was John Redman on 143 points, followed by Estelle Bothma on 146.
• The juniors of the Walvis Bay club continue to rule the roost in Namibia. Kyle Johnson, Connor Gibson and Samual Nel (plus Charlie Lohman from Windhoek) were selected to represent Namibia next week in the All Africa Junior Championships at Benoni Country Club. Their team manager will be Pietie Fox.
• The third round of the Multisave Teams Medal Mania is happening on Saturday 20 April. This is the third and last leg where only one score will count per four-player team. Competitions 4, 5 and 6 will be played on 22 June, 20 July and 21 September and will require two scores from each team to count.
WINDHOEK GOLF CLUB
The Windhoek Golf Club hosted a divisional individual stableford competition last Saturday, in which 42 players participated.
The top results per division were as follows:
Overall winner: Chris van Lill (41 points, count-out).
A Division (handicap less than 14): 1 Bertus Damon (38 points), 2 Monty Rukoro (37), 3 Willem Triegaardt (37), 4 Melt van Schoor (35), 5 Elandre Oosthuizen (31).
B Division (handicap 13.9 to 18.9): 1 Evelyn Paulino (41 points), 2 Ian Wood (37), 3 Jurgen Johannesson (37).
C Division (19 and higher): Hansina Hinda (40), Glenville Dantu (39), Clinton Dodds (36).
Four nearest-to-pin prizes were also won as follows: Elandre Oosthuizen (hole 9), Charles Lohmann (hole 13), GeorgeVink (hole 17) and Hansina Hinda (hole 17)
The competition this coming weekend is the NALGU Mixed Pairs.
