The inaugural Clash of the Saints event saw St George's Diocesan School and St Paul's College compete fiercely across multiple sports, culminating in a series of thrilling matches that highlighted the athletic talent and school spirit of both institutions.
St George’s, this year’s hosts, emerged victorious in basketball and football, while St Paul’s claimed wins in volleyball and hockey.
The three-day event was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students and coaches, setting a high standard for future competitions.

Basketball: St George’s dominate
In the boys’ basketball match, St George’s Diocesan School dominated from start to finish, securing a decisive 51-21 victory over St Paul’s College.
From the opening tip-off, St George’s players showcased superior skill and coordination, maintaining a commanding lead throughout the game. Their defensive and offensive strategies were executed with precision, leaving St Paul’s unable to close the gap.

Volleyball: St Paul’s triumphs
The volleyball match saw St Paul’s College claim victory in straight sets, winning 25-21 in the first set and 26-23 in a tightly contested second set. This match marked the first time both schools fielded mixed-gender teams, adding a unique and inclusive dimension to the competition.
St George’s, participating with a newly formed team, displayed impressive teamwork and eagerness, but ultimately fell short against the more experienced St Paul’s team.

Hockey: Mixed results
The hockey matches delivered a mix of results. The boys’ game ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw, with both teams showcasing excellent technique and determination.
Meanwhile, the girls’ match saw St Paul’s dominate with a 5-0 victory, demonstrating superior strategy and coordination. St George’s girls, despite their efforts, struggled against St Paul’s relentless offensive plays and could not beat the robust defence.

Netball: Commanding win for St George’s
St George’s Diocesan School’s netball team secured a commanding 19-4 victory over St Paul’s College. From the outset, St George’s demonstrated superior strategy and synergy, building on their lead throughout all quarters. Their mid-court defence was particularly effective, limiting St Paul’s scoring opportunities.

Football: FNB Classic Clashes
The event concluded with the much-anticipated boys’ football match, part of the FNB Classic Clashes series.
St George’s claimed a 2-1 victory, marking their seventh win in recent years.
The match delivered a fitting finale to the Clash of the Saints, showcasing the skill and determination of both teams. St George’s controlled the game from the beginning, with their attacking plays leading to two well-earned goals, securing their place as champions once again.
