KK Palace Aim to Avoid Relegation After Tough Start

King Kauluma Palace have their sights set on avoiding relegation at all costs after finding themselves in the bottom half of the table and struggling to climb out.

Head coach Anderson Phiri emphasized the need for his team to start collecting points following their 2-0 defeat to Khomas Nampol FC in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership on Saturday.

The northern-based side has had a tough time adapting since their promotion to the top flight this season. KK Palace — as they are affectionately known — had a fairytale start to the campaign, but their early momentum has faded, and they now find themselves fighting for survival.

Coach Phiri admitted that the team is under pressure and stressed the importance of turning things around.

“It’s not good losing matches, because we know this will make things even more difficult for us,” Phiri said.
“Our main focus right now is to improve results and ensure we survive relegation.
If you watched the match against Khomas Nampol on Saturday, you’d see we created some good chances, but failed to convert them.”

The club remains optimistic that they can begin turning their opportunities into goals.

Khomas Nampol in the Title Mix

Khomas Nampol FC, meanwhile, are among the front-runners in an early title race. Their win over KK Palace has given them a fighting chance to keep pace with the league’s top contenders.

Coach Fortune Eichab praised his team’s resilience but urged them to remain focused and not become complacent.

“I think the victory was good for us, but we still need to avoid allowing teams to create open chances,” Eichab said.
“It was a good result, and we’re happy to get the win, but there’s still a lot to do to stay with the top teams.
As a coach, I’m looking forward to the next few weeks — the competition is tight at the top, and we must maintain our momentum.”

Coaching Shake-up at Buccaneers

In other action, Tigers FC’s 3-2 win over Bucks Buccaneers on Friday night led to the sacking of coach Woody Jacobs.
Striker coach Geoffrey Roman also departed, with the club's top management appointing Bertus Bock as interim coach and Rudi Louw as his assistant.
