Lahja aims for second gold medal

Namibia’s Lahja Ishitile took off successfully on her 100 metres T11 campaign yesterday morning with a second-placed qualifying heat at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games in France.
The visually impaired speedster clocked 12.12 seconds, the second-fastest time of the four qualifying heats at the Stade de France Stadium.
With almost nothing to distinguish from the fastest time in the heats (Lorena Silva Spoladore of Brazil’s 12.11s, in the same heat), the Namibian looks a strong contender to add another medal to the historic break-through gold in the 400 metres on Saturday.
The 27-year-old representing NUST Welwitschia 77 Athletics Club in Windhoek was due for another match-up with Spoladore in the first of the 100m T11 semi-finals. Angola’s Juliana Ngleya Moko also ran in the same semi-final.
The final of the women’s 100m T11 is tonight at 20:04.
