In a remarkable display of grit and skill, the fifth edition of the Namibia Tennis Association's (NTA) senior tournament concluded with thrilling finals at the Central Tennis Courts in Windhoek last weekend.
In the men’s final, Oscar Muyambo claimed his first overall title with a 6-3, 5-5 victory after his opponent Lorenzo Danster retired during the second set.
Reflecting on his achievement, Muyambo expressed excitement, noting that this victory marked his first-ever senior tournament title.
“Winning the overall title feels incredible. I was expecting a bigger turnout from some of the stronger players, but in tournaments, you never know who you’ll be up against,” he said.
Looking ahead, Muyambo said he’s eager for more competitions. “I’m excited for the opportunities ahead and will be training harder to refine the nuances of my game.”

Bezuidenhout claims women’s title
In the women’s round-robin format, Joanivia Bezuidenhout reigned supreme, beating Elrica Nakusera 6-2, 6-4, and later defeating Amanda van Dyk 6-2, 6-1 to comfortably secure the overall title. Van Dyk placed second, with Nakusera finishing third.
In the men’s doubles, Muyambo teamed up with his usual partner, Kendall Swartz, to face longtime rivals Mickey Alemu and SP van Wyk. Despite their best efforts, Muyambo and Swartz fell short, losing 6-1, 6-4, and settled for second place.
