Namib Daughters defeated Khomas Nampol 2-0 in a FNB Women's Super League action-packed match played at the Mondesa Stadium in Swakopmund on Saturday.
Both teams put up quite an impressive performance, specifically the defenders. Daughters - under the mentorship of Ryaan Matsi - came out firing on all cylinders.
Daughters forward Talitha Aubes, assisted by Magdalena Keambera, launched concerted efforts in search of a goal in the first half, but came up short.
Nampol also orchestrated numerous attacks in search of a leading goal in the first half of the game but was denied access by an alert Daughters goalkeeper Sarafina Khuruses.
After an eventful first half with the scoreboard still level, Daughters applied pressure in the second half.
Nampol's defence showed incredible resilience, but couldn't stop Aubes from reaching the back of the net and taking the lead (1-0). Nampol tried their utmost best to edge their way into the game but could not find their way through a stubborn Daughters defence and alert Khuruses, who displayed an impressive performance.
Daughters' Ignacia Haoses cemented their lead (2-0) with a long-range shot from outside the box.
Daughters captain Michelle Aochamus said she is proud of her team. "Nampol defeated us before and I am happy and proud that we got to defeat them this time around. We came for a win and got one. I am proud of my girls."
