Namibia clinch test series against Proteas

The Namibian Senior Women’s indoor hockey team proved their seniority over the visiting South African Proteas at the show grounds this weekend by clinching the five-test Indoor Series with an epic 2-1 win this weekend.
Captain Maggy Mengo and her troops won the first test 2-0 and the second test 2-1. The third and fourth tests on Saturday were respectively drawn at two all and four all. Yesterday morning, the Proteas achieved a 1-0 victory.
The Namibian Senior Men’s team had an excellent start on Friday afternoon in the first test, stunning the Proteas by six goals to five after leading 5-1 at half time. This was Namibia’s first ever test victory over their South African counterparts.
But unfortunately, that was the end of Namibia’s bull run. On Friday evening, they managed a six-all draw in the second test, but in the third and fourth tests on Saturday, they had to bend the knee with 7-3 in both games.
Sunday morning did not bring any luck for Captain DJ Strauss and Namibia, suffering a 6-3 defeat by the rampant South African men and losing the series 3-1.
