The National Karting League’s event 5 took place at the Swakopmund go-karting track, showcasing thrilling competition among 34 talented drivers across various age groups.
Organised by Jörg Goldbeck and supported by Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Namibia and Kartstore Namibia, the event marks the fifth of eight national races scheduled for this year.
As participants completed their warm-ups, qualifying rounds and Heat 1, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. After a lunch break, competitors were set to dive into Heats 2 and 3.
The competition features eight classes, starting from the youngest, the Bambino class (ages 5-9), to the more advanced senior divisions. Notably, the Bambino division was led by Russel Josephat, who recently competed in South Africa and demonstrated impressive skills despite some tough luck.
In the Micromax class, Nick Kruger and Ned Hannam are hot on each other’s heels, recently finishing with a photo finish in Heat 1. Meanwhile, the Minimax division is dominated by the Kaiyamo twins, who broke the lap record earlier the day and showed their talent at a recent national event in South Africa.
Kobus Reyneke is the standout in the Senior Max division, winning both the qualifying round and Heat 1. He remains unbeaten this season, but Kian Fussell is a close contender, maintaining a competitive edge.
The DD2 class features Zain as the current leader, having secured a win in Heat 1, but Nikita Thieme is hot on his heels. Meanwhile, in the Kid Rock division, Christopher Fudelka leads the pack.

Upcoming challenges
Excitement is mounting as the next league event is scheduled for 10 August promising more thrilling races. A highlight of this year's series is the opportunity for the winner of the DD2 class to secure a ticket to the prestigious Rotax Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy, later this year.

Invitation to spectators
Goldbeck invites motorsport enthusiasts and the public to witness the high-speed action, emphasising the stark difference between rental go-karts and competitive racing.
“We want everyone to come out and experience the excitement of racing go-karts and see just how competitive it can be,” he said.
