Debmarine Namibia and the Namibia Football Association (NFA) have agreed on a deal to kickstart the league on 29 November. This follows a series of discussions about the terms and conditions of the sponsorship for the 2024/25 season.
“Debmarine and the NFA have successfully concluded discussions, with Debmarine agreeing to exercise the option to extend the sponsorship agreement for the 2024/25 football league season.
“The NFA and Debmarine are therefore delighted to announce the commencement of the Debmarine Namibia Premiership for the 2024/25 season, set for Friday, 29 November 2024,” the two parties announced in a joint statement.
The diamond mining company confirmed they would contribute N$18 million for the 2024/25 season as per the terms of the sponsorship agreement. The company emphasized its commitment to the sponsorship despite the challenges currently facing the diamond industry.
“In light of the well-documented challenges in the diamond market, it is crucial to highlight the positive impact of natural diamonds on communities, especially as we reaffirm our sponsorship of the premier league.”
The company also commended football clubs and football fans for their patience throughout the discussions. Both parties further pledged to ensure a smooth and successful start to the Debmarine Namibia Premiership season.
The NFA and Debmarine called upon all stadium owners, including government, municipalities, and private entities, to prepare and ensure the readiness of their facilities where premiership matches will be held.
“The NFA and Debmarine invite all football lovers, as well as small and medium enterprises selling food and beverages at stadiums, to continue supporting the beautiful game with passion and, in doing so, contribute to the economic development of our country.”
The NFA also praised Debmarine for its commitment to Namibian football and encouraged fans to attend matches in large numbers to help increase the association's traction.
In conclusion, the NFA thanked Debmarine for its generous support of Namibian football and urged fans to come to the stadiums in big numbers to ensure that clubs receive maximum support.
“Debmarine also thanks the NFA for its commitment and dedication to upholding the integrity of the Debmarine Namibia brand. This partnership exemplifies our willingness to support football under challenging circumstances.”
