Ongos Sports Club has confirmed details of the preparations of their FNB Women’s Super League-winning football team to participate in the upcoming Cosafa Club Championship.
This prestigious tournament will see the team compete against champion clubs from the Southern African region, providing a platform to showcase their talent and commitment on an international stage.
The ladies' team has been preparing rigorously, participating in various competitive matches. They also celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 win against Khomas Nampol Ladies in the PstBet NFA Cup, reinforcing their status as the leading team in Namibia.
Their reward will be the bigger test of competing at the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifiers, from 15-24 August in Blantyre, Malawi. The Namibians have been drawn against University of Western Cape (RSA), Green Buffaloes (Zambia) and Herentals Queens (Zimbabwe).
In the run-up to the tournament, the team will conduct trials this Saturday, providing a final assessment to ensure the best players are selected.
Alongside the confirmation of their Cosafa participation, Ongos Sports Club has unveiled its new logo. The emblem features a majestic African fish eagle within a badge design, symbolising the club's core values and aspirations.

The eagle’s keen eyesight symbolises our vision to inspire and uplift our athletes and community, while its soaring flight represents the limitless potential we believe in nurturing within our club. The badge shape signifies unity and belonging, blending modern aesthetics with timeless appeal, and connecting to the culture and natural beauty of our region.
“This new logo embodies our commitment to nurturing talent, inspiring greatness, and creating a legacy of excellence. It will represent our club in all competitions and sports codes, inspiring our members and supporters to embody the qualities of the majestic eagle – strength, vision, and the courage to soar to new heights.”
