Sizzling hot races at Tony Rust

The second round of the National Circuit Racing Championship was completed on Saturday afternoon at the Tony Rust racecourse west of the capital.
With the second round of the national championships done and dusted, the 2023 circuit racing season is at full speed.
Eleven cars competed in six different classes.
The two newcomers to circuit racing are Pieter Greeff and Craig Bisschoff.
Michel Rust (Volvo, computer malfunction) and Bisschoff (Toyota MR2, tyres) had to withdraw in the first heat of the race.
Greeff is a seasoned rally driver and did equally well on the tarmac with Nala (a VW Golf).
Greeff will start the third round of the national championship in Class E with Jan Everson.
Greeff said: "My time will improve with experience. I still need to make some adjustments to Nala, which will also help. It was great fun, and I will do it again. On Saturday, I was on my nerves with a race for the first time in many years."

Respect the car
The overall winner, Bazil van Rhyn, said: "My car was still in pieces on Friday evening because the parts arrived late. I was able to practice at Tony Rust for the first time on Saturday morning and qualified. I did not expect the result at all. It was incredibly nice to be able to race again for once. Windhoek Motor Club's (WMC) arrangements were great.
"There is still a lot to improve on the Audi, because it was just an ordinary passenger car. I gained a lot of respect for the car. Many thanks to my sponsors, Zirkas Panelbeating (main sponsor), Best Drive, Precision Fuel, Auto Supplies, as well as Performance & Fitment Shop."
Hein Bisschoff, Class C winner, said: "It was a wonderful day on the track with the Chevy V8 that makes a man's blood pump faster. The nerves were, of course, there, but those are good nerves. It is worth the effort, and a plus point if the car you work so hard on performs 100 percent as it should. There is no better sound than that of a V8. We want to thank WMC and the supporters who make everything worthwhile."
