The series highlighted friendly rivalries and spirited competition among the club's social groups.
Windhoek Golf Club (WGC) last weekend wrapped up its inter-social group series Stableford competition, marking the final round for the year.Seven of WGC’s eleven social groups competed in the event, aiming for bragging rights and a strong year-end finish on the leaderboard.
The third round saw 57 golfers participate, slightly lower than the 59 players in May’s second round and far from January’s high of 115 in the first round.
WGC’s club captain Gustav Jung emphasised that the event's main goal is fostering camaraderie among the club’s 500 members.
“Within our membership, there are 11 distinct social groups. While not everyone belongs to one, the idea is to create an opportunity for everyone to connect and get to know one another,” he said.
He added that the golf committee is considering introducing rewards next year to boost participation.
Jung also announced that the club will host the annual Gold Cup, sponsored by Kunene Catering Services, this coming weekend.
