The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the Standard Bank NSSR Under-19 Premier League as the top two teams, Samsung Windhoek High School (WHS) and King Price Windhoek Gymnasium, prepare to battle it out in the final round this weekend.
The much-anticipated clash will take place at FNB Vegkop Stadium on Saturday, with both teams tied at the top of the table on 52 log points. WHS currently holds the slight advantage due to a superior 45-points difference.
The ever-exciting rivalry between these two powerhouses was reignited earlier this year during the annual Interhigh, where Windhoek Gymnasium emerged victorious with a commanding 35-16 win.
Since then, both teams have been playing at an unstoppable tempo, each securing six wins from six games, setting up this decisive encounter.
With the league title on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The winning team on Saturday will claim the top spot and maintain its unbeaten record this season, moving into the semi-finals, where they will face either PSG Walvis Bay Private School (WBPS) or OK Moria.
Fans who won’t be able to make it to Vegkop Stadium can still catch all the action live on NTV (DStv channel 285 or GOtv 25) from 11:30.

Last dance for semi-final hopefuls
In another critical fixture, sixth-placed WBPS will square off against fifth-placed Moria at Naartjie Park in Walvis Bay.
Both teams are eyeing the fourth-place spot currently held by Tsumeb Gymnasium, who have already completed their season. A win for either WBPS or Moria will secure a semi-final berth by overtaking the unfortunate Tsumeb, whose campaign was disrupted by injuries and illness at a crucial stage.
The match will be broadcast live by our coastal production team on https://oneuptwo.com/ntv, ensuring fans don’t miss a moment of the action.
Swakopmund’s Pro-Ed Academy concluded their league fixtures with a 48-17 home win against Elnatan – a result that consolidated their third-place finish and ensured a semi-final spot, just like last year.

Pride on the line at Affies Park
Elsewhere, Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP) will host Privaatskool Elnatan at Affies Park in a battle for pride.
Both teams have struggled to find momentum throughout the season, with each only managing to win one game. With no playoff hopes remaining, they’ll be looking to end their season on a positive note.
As the NSSR Under-19 Super League approaches its climactic weekends of quarter-finals (24 August), semi-finals (31 August) and finals (7 September), this weekend’s fixtures promise to deliver high drama and excitement. Don’t miss the action as the country’s finest rugby schools go head-to-head for glory!
