U16s get into groove against Border CD

Namibia maintained its historical domination against Border Country Districts at South African provincial schools rugby tournaments, beating the Eastern Cape side 31-7 at the SA Rugby Under-16 Grant Khomo Week yesterday.The Namibians scored five tries against one in the match at Gqeberha, as they came into their own after their 6-26 loss to South Western Districts two days before.
De Duine scrumhalf Jade Langenhoven and Dr Lemmer High School hooker Eduardo Dunn each scored two tries, along with one by Windhoek Gymnasium centre JD Jankowitz. Three of the conversions by Sergio Pamplin (flyhalf of De Duine) were successful.
Head coach Morné Rust says: “We could have won by a bigger margin and scored more points in the first half, if not for an early tendency for individualistic play, although we followed our structure better in the second half and scored some nice tries.
“Our captain JJ Fourie (lock) was somewhat unlucky to get another yellow card (also against SWD) for a high tackle. The opponent was falling into the tackle, but fortunately JJ held a low body position, otherwise it could have resulted in a red card.
“Eduardo Dunn performed well and JD Jankowitz was awarded player of the match.
“We’ve been largely fortunate to not have serious injuries so far and look forward to our last match on Friday, likely against Zimbabwe.”
