Capricorn Group, along with its subsidiaries Capricorn Asset Management and Capricorn Private Wealth, proudly announced the expansion of its sponsorship with Cricket Namibia, now also supporting the national under-19 women’s team.
This addition, alongside their existing sponsorship of the Namibian national women’s cricket team (the Capricorn Eagles), brings their total support to over N$1.4 million.
Marlize Horn, Group Executive: Brand & Corporate Affairs, stated: “It is an honour for us at Capricorn Group to support the expansion of women’s cricket in Namibia by investing in the Under-19 team.
“Our continued support of women’s cricket in Namibia demonstrates Capricorn Group's commitment to making a positive impact on our communities.
“We take pride in our Capricorn Eagles and are excited to be part of the journey to develop young players.”
The sponsorship facilitates festivals, training camps, competitions, and new equipment, fostering a supportive environment for women's cricket.
Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller expressed gratitude, noting that Capricorn’s support enables the growth and focus on women's cricket, including the newly branded U19 Capricorn Eagles, who aim to qualify for the U19 World Cup next year.
Capricorn Group looks forward to seeing continued growth in female participation and creating more opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
Namibia’s U19 women are currently in the midst of a home T20 series against touring Zimbabwe, who won the opening match by 96 runs on Monday. Match three is scheduled for a 14:00 start at the new national cricket stadium in Olympia.
