ACFA hosts youth football tourney

The Athletic Club Football Academy (ACFA) hosts its annual tournament this weekend at its field in Pionierspark.
With 12 clubs participating, the tournament promises to be a platform for young footballers to showcase their skill, sportsmanship and passion for football as they face off from Friday to Sunday in a series of matches.
“The youth football fraternity has answered our call to come out and celebrate in competitive games this weekend and end the year playing the game that we all enjoy, the glue that unites us all no matter what club or school,” said Ricky Aveira, ACFA head coach.
The first games kick off at 15:00 on Friday, with the youngest footballers the u/7’s up until the u/17’s playing. ACFA will have matches running along with a kiddies entertainment area.
A prizegiving ceremony to award the top performing teams after the tournament on Sunday.
Food and beverages are on sale to sustain all supporters and youth participating in the exciting games. The u/15 and u/17 games will be played at the Ramblers field, while all the other games will be played on home ground at ACFA.
ACFA was established in 2017, the academy is a high performance youth football development programme based in Windhoek. The Academy takes pride in being an inclusive club with both boys and girls playing and developing their technical and interpersonal skills.
“A tournament allows players to value personal preparation in the lead up to competitions, increasing self-discipline and awareness to fulfil team and personal goals. This year’s ACFA tournament will be the last for the season, and aims to bring together the youth football community,” Aveira said.
The referees presiding over the matches are all FIFA accredited in conjunction with the Namibia Football Association. The Tournament Organisers and Head Coach invite the public to come and support our girls and boys and cheer them on as they learn and grow in every match.
