Father and son bag second win at Desert Classic
The 2023 Nedbank Desert Classic saw returning champions Jordan and Kevin Wentzel cement their names in the history books of the competition, as one of the first-ever father-and-son teams to win the event consecutively.The 2023 Nedbank Desert Classic took place on 28 and 29 December 2023 at the Rossmund Golf Course in Swakopmund. The two-day tournament saw a record-breaking 164 players – the most players since the inception of the series – take on the challenge and be crowned as the tournament winners.
Jordan (13) and Kevin Wentzel (49) won the tournament with 93 points, followed by Christopher Durant and Wouter Maske in second place at 92 points, while Borris Erasmus and Grant Mather took third position with 91 points.
Speaking on behalf of DZ Golf who organised the event, Dan Zwiebel said that it was two fantastic days of golf. “We broke our attendance record this year by having 164 players take part in the tournament. We are extremely grateful to all the teams who made this possible. A special thanks to our main sponsors, Nedbank Namibia and Hollard Namibia, all our supporting sponsors, and the organising teams for making this event great, and a special way to close off 2023,” he said.
