Gravel & Dirt powers ahead

The breathtaking landscapes surrounding Auas Safari Lodge set the stage for an exhilarating day of competition as the Gravel & Dirt powered by Hollard, mountain bike race unfolded last Saturday.
Cyclists from across the region converged at this scenic location outside Windhoek to test their mettle against challenging terrains, creating a thrilling display of skill, determination, and camaraderie.
In the men's 65 km race category, Gerhard Mans Jnr proved his prowess with a dominant performance, securing a well-earned first place. Clinton Hilfiker demonstrated unwavering determination and skill, claiming the second spot closely followed by Danzel de Koe, whose impressive performance secured the third position on the podium.
The women's race was equally electrifying, with Anri Krügel emerging as an exceptional contender, showcasing remarkable skill and unyielding determination to secure first place. Jeanne Heunis demonstrated her confidence and expertise, securing the runner-up position, while Maike Bochert's brilliance secured her the third spot on the winners' podium. These remarkable women pushed their limits, captivating spectators with their outstanding performance.
The challenging routes posed no obstacle for the participants, as meticulous markings ensured their safety and the thrill of an unforgettable experience. Despite the difficulty of the tracks, the event demonstrated success on multiple fronts.
As the Gravel & Dirt series continues to captivate biking enthusiasts, two more events are eagerly anticipated. The next event, the Ugab Terrace MTB Challenge, is scheduled for 26 August at the Outjo Wildsfees in Outjo. With an entry fee of N$380 participants not only gain access to the race but also to the Wildsfees festivities on Saturday.
The series reaches its climactic conclusion on 16 September, with the Vegas MTB event outside Windhoek.
