Green supports Dante’s chess aspirations

Namibia’s Dante Beukes was the first runner-up at the recent Zone 4.5 Chess Championship held in Lusaka, Zambia.
Dante, Namibia’s only International Master and who is currently based in the USA, competed fiercely for the crown. He was narrowly beaten by home favourite, Zambian International Master Kelvin Chumfwa.
African Chess Confederation, Zone 4.5 Chess President Susan Namangale said that the Zone 4.5 Championship, which includes federations from ten countries in Southern Africa, attracted participants from Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. She also acknowledged the presence of several International Masters from Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
“Namibia can be immensely proud that International Master (IM) Dante Beukes came second in such a crowded and fiercely competitive field. His representation of Namibia in the SADC region is a source of great pride,” local ITC company Green Enterprise Solutions said in a media release. “It is therefore surprising that Beukes has not been chosen by the Namibia Chess Federation to represent Namibia at competitions, foremost the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.
“Dante's determination to continue competing across the world and fly the flag for Namibia, with or without the Namibian Chess Federation’s endorsement, is truly inspiring. Green Enterprise Solutions is proud to be the sponsor of this remarkable young chess player competing and winning at the highest level.”
