Partners in sport
The Ramblers Sports Club and the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group gathered to mark the signing of their sponsorship agreement valued at N$315 000 for the period 1 July 2023 - 30 June 2024 on Wednesday, making it the company’s fifth year of sponsoring the soccer club. The event also marked the launch of the 2023 O&L Ramblers Annual Youth Tournament, taking place from 4 to 6 August 2023, with various clubs participating for the title in u/7 to u/19 age categories.
Among the guests at the launch were the Secretary General of the Namibia Football Association, Jochen Traut and the Chairperson of the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD), Markus Murs.
As the main sponsor of the Ramblers Soccer Academy, the O&L Group was represented at the handover event by Roux-ché Locke, O&L Group Manager: Corporate Relations, who shared her enthusiasm for the partnership.
“Through this sponsorship agreement, O&L and Ramblers Soccer Club demonstrate our mutual commitment to harnessing the power of sport to make a meaningful difference in our society. We firmly believe that partnerships built on effort and equity will benefit our organisations and create lasting and positive changes for our communities.
“By investing in soccer and promoting a culture of fair play, we provide our youth with an opportunity to develop not only as skilled athletes but also as responsible and compassionate individuals. Soccer fosters discipline, teamwork, and determination, essential traits for success in all aspects of life.”
Beneficial relationship
Ramblers Sports Club Chairperson, Sedrick van Turah, also shared a few words at the occasion: “On behalf of the Ramblers executive, I thank the management team of O&L who positively engaged since last year as we journeyed for a mutually beneficial relationship. We pledge to honour our commitments to you, with the support of our club members, especially the academy, first-division members, and supporters alike. Your financial support goes a long way to ensure that our youth teams will be kitted adequately in the upcoming leagues and tournaments.
“In closing, I want to thank the NFA and SSFD for the administration of our senior leagues (men and ladies alike), without which no club or team will have an active membership, which forms the basis for any corporate sponsor to be associated with, to further their exposure. Soccer is no doubt the number one sport in Namibia and we at Ramblers are actively involved in grassroots development, to allow further exposure to senior soccer by these players alike. To all the coaches (volunteers or paid) – your hard work and commitment to Ramblers Club is appreciated, and well worth mentioning as without you there is no TEAM participating. To the parents of the youth players, we value your financial commitment as this allows us to keep the club operational and allow us to commit to activities that the teams can participate in. We look forward to your active engagements with the club, and your input and ideas to expand the activities at our premises.”
