€5 000 boost for Concerto Festival

The German Embassy in Windhoek announced its support for the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra by sponsoring the RMB Concerto Festival with a contribution of €5 000 (approximately N$97 500).
The Concerto takes place on 17 and 18 August and showcases the talents of young Namibian musicians in the DHPS hall in Church Street.
The Concerto Festival was first held ten years ago with Florian Rohn as guest soloist and Alexander Fokkens as a conductor, accompanied by the Namibian National Symphony Orchestra. Since then, it has been organised almost every year. The Concerto Festival allows young Namibian musicians studying at the College of the Arts or private music teachers to perform with a full orchestra and in front of a large audience.
The NNSO again welcomes Xavier Cloete as the conductor along with special guests from Germany, the Karlsruher Concert Duo, who have visited Namibia on multiple occasions, to great acclaim.
Together with the Namibian concertmaster and violinist Jürgen Kriess, the Karlsruher Concert Duo Dagmar Hartmann and Reinhard Armleder will perform the Triple Concerto from Ludwig van Beethoven.
It is a special opportunity for the Namibian Audience to witness the live performance of this famous piece for three solo instruments (violin, cello and piano), accompanied by a full symphony orchestra.
Tickets cost between N$180 and N$280, available via webtickets.com.na or at the doors.
