CRAN launches WhatsApp consumer assistant, revamped website

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) unveiled its new WhatsApp Consumer Assistant and revamped website earlier this week, marking a significant step towards enhancing consumer engagement and improving access to telecommunications services across the country.
Speaking at the launch in Windhoek, CRAN chief executive Emilia Nghikembua highlighted the importance of accessible communication tools in today’s digital age.
“We have to ensure that every citizen can easily access information about their rights, the regulatory framework governing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the services we offer,” she said.
The WhatsApp Consumer Assistant is designed to provide users with a simple and efficient communication platform for addressing various concerns. Key features include a streamlined channel for lodging and resolving complaints, and a resource hub for inquiries related to telecommunications services, licencing and regulations.
“This tool bridges communication gaps and allows us to tailor our services to consumer needs,” Nghikembua said, emphasising the growing importance of responsive digital platforms.
In addition to the WhatsApp assistant, CRAN’s revamped website now offers a more user-friendly experience, featuring a mobile-friendly interface, a resource library, as well as news and updates.
“This new platform aligns with our vision of building a digitally empowered Namibia,” Nghikembua said. “It’s more than a website – it’s a gateway to more inclusive and effective communication.”
The launch attended by industry stakeholders, marked a milestone in CRAN’s efforts to foster a transparent and consumer-centric regulatory environment.
