The founding meeting for a Veteran Broadcasters Association was held in Windhoek on Tuesday.
Kolie van Coller, the founder of Kosmos 94.1, was named convener and media spokesperson.
A working group of five people has been set up to handle and finalise the founding process, amid tremendous interest locally and in South Africa.
“A veteran broadcasters association is important to preserve the legacy and standards of the industry. It provides a platform for experienced broadcasters to share their knowledge, mentor new talent and maintain ethical practices," said Van Coller.
He added that even celebrities in the broadcasting industry in the neighboring country, such as Riaan Cruywagen and Leon Schuster, expressed their interest and support.
Van Coller believes that such an organisation strengthens the industry by promoting excellence, continuity and professional growth, ensuring that the rich history and expertise of experienced broadcasters benefits future generations.
"By promoting a sense of community among veterans, the association ensures the transmission of precious skills and traditions. It also advocates for the interests of broadcasters and provides support and resources to navigate the changing media landscape.” – [email protected]
