The annual Tourism Expo will be launched at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort at 14:00 today, with doors opening to the general public at 16:00.
The expo takes place until Friday, with general access from 16:00 to 21:00 and doors closing at 22:00 every day.
Entrance is N$150 per adult, which includes a wine glass and a token for wine tasting and a coffee voucher. Children pay N$50 and in their case, the ticket comes with an E-racing simulator voucher. Children under six and pensioners over 60 enjoy free access.
As always, the Tourism Expo aims at bringing together exhibitors, whether they be direct operators of the hospitality industry or suppliers. In line with this year’s theme “Beyond Borders”, the aim from the organiser's Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) side is to broaden the scope of service providers beyond Namibia's borders, which also applies to the prospective tourist/s who visit the show and make use of this opportunity to plan their next holiday.
However, the Expo also offers more than meets the eye, as there will be network sessions, which will be conducted on Thursday and Friday from 11:00 to 15:00. The themes are as varied as are the speakers, who will delve into topics such as youth in tourism, community tourism and conservation efforts at community level, social interventions, internships and funding opportunities. A new perspective is added with the British High Commissioner, Charles Moore, having travelled extensively in Namibia, providing a third-party opinion about what visitors can realistically expect.
On the entertainment side, NMH has again invited the SPCA (on Thursday at 16:00) to conduct the “Adopt a Dog”-campaign. There are also various culinary demonstrations and competitions with the artists Vocalfront, Big Ben, Savannah Collins and the Carnival of Flames providing audio-visual entertainment.
